Press X to Start

While we're late to the party, the fates finally aligned for Press X to lift the veil on spoilers and dig deep into the nitty gritty of this episode. Fair warninig, this is a spoiler cast and not really a formal review though we do give our review like impressions at the end of the game sparking a brush up about subjectivity and this game's place in the pantheon of all time games. Its a good episode, though also fair warning it was recorded back to back with the last released episode and Avery maning the boards is still geting the hang of being the Engineer. 

So first things first, a missing DJ robbed us of our normal engineer and as a result the sound quality of this episode is not its best. Avery attempted to stalwartly fill in and he was found wanting. So apologies in advance and the silver lining is now, that when DJ goes on vacation the show doesn't implode on itself. So back to the matter at hand, we the remaining members of Press X to Start bring you another episode of weekly musings on all things video games. As e deal with the malaise of a post God of War video game landscape, we didn't play much so its mostly Cam giving his two cents about Avengers Infinity War. In news we mostly talk about Red Dead Redemption 2 and Beyond Good and Evil which snowballs into a contention argument about whether Ubisoft games are all the same. The full compliment of Press X convenes for another episode of discussing all things video games. Still riding the wave that is God of War, only Cam tried something new making good on his promise to play the Detroit Demo. In news, the group discusses the state of Destiny 2 including their next expansion, Nintendo's E3 plans, the plight of Microtransactions abroad and the recently revealed preview of Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Rounding this episode out is the return of the much asked for( and by much asked for i mean only Marcus) game section but Avery calls an audible and the group decides to play Video Game 20 Questions instead of Who Am I. 

After 10 years and 18 films, Marvel Studios has dropped the biggest cinematic event of the decade and Avery and Marcus of Press X to Start are here to talk about. As the only two able to see the movie openining night, they break down this crowning achievement in comic book film storytelling. Heads up, this contains major spoilers and if you havent' seen the movie and have an aversion to all things spoiler maybe save this episode. Regardless, its a good conversation and we hope you enjoy.

I'm going to be honest half of this episode is just the collective Press X gushing about God of War and the accomplishment that it is. The other half is the show as it is normally, with news and an impromptu culture topic. That being said, this episode had the misfortune of being released in the wake of infinity war and this is Avery(posting) here being transparent. I have no idea what the latter half of this show was, so sucks for the SEO but i'm pretty sure it was a good episode and enjoy folks.

Press X minus Marcus and Cam and plus resident X-bot Jordan convene to talk Far Cry 5 in explicit detail. Spoilers up people, most of the following review conversation deals with the story and characters of Far Cry 5 and less the actual game mechanics. Should you press X on it? This subjective question and more are discussed answered as the trio finally gets to talk in detail about the game slaying the early spring charts.

In another unfortantely Cam-lite week, the boys reconvene to talk all things video games. DJ is still playing and loving Dragon Ball FighterZ, Avery is grinding away at Far Cry 5(More news about that in the upcoming Review Cast) and the group collectively(Cam included) played Overwatch's new Retribution Event Campaign. In news Drake continues to hang out with Ninja and challenges EPIC games, news of a new Bioshock comes from the turmoil of the Mafia 3 developers, BossKey throws a hail mary pass named Radical Heights into the battle royale market and the group examines the reports of the PS5. Its a good ep, enjoy.

Press X continues to branch out into fields other than gaming and once again decide to talk about a major motion picture. Marcus and Avery saw Ready Player One and they have some thoughts, with DJ acting as a curious third party eager to understand "the at the time" #1 film in the box office.
